Spanish Relay

711 or 866-305-1343

Dial quickly and converse easily

A person who is deaf or hard of hearing can use a TTY to type their message, which is read aloud to the other caller by a Communications Assistant. The Communications Assistant types the spoken message of the hearing caller to the TTY user. The average typing speed is 15 words per minute.

English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English translations are also available for TTY Relay customers.

How Does Spanish Relay Work?

To make the call by TTY, you must dial the TTY number, 711 or 866-305-1343. Kansas Relay will answer. Dial the area code and the phone number you want to call followed by “GA” (Go Ahead). The relay operator dials the number and connects it with the other person who speaks Spanish

1

You type your conversation in Spanish to the Communications Assistant. Remember to type “GA” at the end of each message.

2

Then, the Communications Assistant repeats the message typed aloud in Spanish to the other person.

3

The other person will respond in Spanish after you enter “GA”.

4

The Communications Assistant types the other person’s spoken conversation to transmit it to you.
